The Lauf Fit of the True Grit is optimized for “weekend warriors” and racers. It’s made for the optimum balance of aerodynamics and long-distance comfort. The short headtube enables an aerodynamic bike fit, while the generous headset spacers (35mm) give superb tuneability.
- Your correct size is easy to find.
The True Grit bikes have a wide setup window for the “Stack to Handlebar” (the most defining dimension for how “aggressive” a bike fit is). All True Grit bikes come with 35mm of headset spacers and a stem that can be flipped up/down for extra tuneability. Hence, there is a generous overlap between bike sizes so a rider that chooses a bike for his size according to the chart above should easily find his optimal setup.

- Zero-setback seatposts.
Lauf True Grit bikes have a slack seat tube angle (72.5°) and are thus set up to be used with zero-setback seatposts.

Lauf Grit SL
At the core of True Grit is the Lauf Grit SL, with its 30mm of front suspension - the thing that changed how gravel riding is perceived, now taken to the next level. It’s more compact, lighter and stiffer (laterally and fore/aft) than the standard version. Grit SL has superb small bump performance and maintains traction and control like no other. Making the ride more comfortable, with zero maintenance.
Long 4 Speed - Geometry
The long toptube paired with a short-ish stem, low headtube and a slack head angle give you a low and aerodynamic position with great stability at high speeds and in rough terrain. Making you Long 4 Speed.
45mm of Rubber
The True Grit can take up to 45mm 700c tires* - with ample room for the elements. That’s a whole lot of rubber when things get dirty. All this with short 425mm chainstay length, without intruding on the space for the crankset.
Beer or Gear?
The Beer Or Gear front derailleur design opens up endless possibilities. Most True Grit riders are going to want the mechanical robustness and simplicity of 1x drivetrains. Especially with the recent arrival of 1x12 drivetrains. These riders will get a bottle opener where a front derailleur would otherwise be. However, there will be some road-biased True Grit riders that lust for the classically tight gear spacing of a road bike (while the gear range of a 1x and 2x is actually almost the same). These riders have the option of using SRAM AXS 2x drivetrains.
With In-N-Out Cabling, the rear derailleur cable and rear disc brake hose have entry points at the headtube, then they miraculously pop out at the optimal locations. No hassle and no annoying rattling inside the frame. Some might call it voodoo but we call it Lauf’ing Out Loud engineering.
The Lauf True Grit gravel frame has undergone serious testing as it meets the ISO standard for mountain bike frames. This makes for a sturdy frame that handles all the fun at only 1.070g - Medium frame in Midnight Blue, including front and rear derailleur hangers.
3x Bottle Mounts
Three bottle mounts come in handy for a long day in the saddle. On top of that the top tube has mounts for a bento box for easy access to food or other smaller items for the long haul.
Threaded Bottom Bracket
For the tried and tested ease of maintenance and creak free riding. It costs more to produce, but it's worth it!
The headtube is tapered (1.125” to 1.5”) for improved strength and control.
Single Piece Front Triangle
By using advanced molding technologies, bonded junctions are avoided and internal surfaces are kept smooth. Resulting in longer continuous carbon fibers and less unwanted material overlap. Thus a stronger and more efficient frame.
